NEJB's roots are on the factory floor. We descend directly from the garment workers who built the American labor movement more than a hundred years ago, and manufacturing is still core to who we are. Our members today work in mills and plants across New England making everything from performance fabrics to tailored clothing to pottery — products stamped, in effect, with a union label.
Manufacturing work is precise, physical, and increasingly technical — and a union contract is how that skill gets recognized. NEJB members negotiate wage progressions tied to skill and seniority, safety committees with real authority on the shop floor, protections when production shifts or technology changes, and retirement benefits that reward years of service. In an industry where workers are often told to be grateful the plant is still open, a contract changes the conversation: the plant runs because of you.
